One of the most important things to remember when you are traveling anywhere away from home for more than a couple of days is what you are going to bring. There are two major things to keep in mind when preparing to travel, proper attire, currency, and something to carry everything.

Before you actually go to your destination, make sure you check the weather for when you plan to go so you can pack the appropriate clothing and foot attire. If you are traveling to areas where the climate differs, be sure to bring extra layers. It is better to over pack on clothing rather than under pack.

Another thing to do before you actually go is to make sure you have some of the currency of where you are traveling to. It is always a good idea to have the money before going in case there is an emergency once you land or go straight into a tour, like my group did.

For the last thing, its a good idea to bring something before hand to hold your money and valuables, but this is something you can obtain while you are away. When I went away, I brought a lanyard that I used for the firs few days, but when I went to Italy, I bought a small bag that was very useful and held everything I did for the rest of the trip.
